Designing A Mars Lander

This module we have been learning about the terrain of Mars & how to make a Mars rover.

We had to go through a Design process,
The first step of the process was ask. I used this by looking at the designs on The Virtual Mars Yard & seeing how they move around. The second step was Imagine. I used this by looking at other designs on the internet to see how different rovers are made. The third step was Plan. I did this by sketching out my final idea on what I wanted to create. The fourth step was Create, I did this by designing my sketched idea on Tinkercad. The final two steps were Test & Improve, which I haven’t done just yet.


We had to learn some facts about Mars, some I learn't were;Mars is a cold desert world.
Mars has a very thin atmosphere, There is very little water on the planet, Mars is half the size of Earth, Mars has 687 earth days & One day on Mars is 24.6 hours. 

We then made a design using some Lego, we moved this design using a Sphero robot. We were given code to make it move around in a simple square. 

We used a Virtual Mars Yard, where we could move a rover around some Mars like terrain.

The last thing we did was look at the InSight robot. The robot was made by NASA to see what the inner core was like.

Editing Google logo

Today in robotics we used Scratch to design our own google logo. For me the task was quite easy because I had pretty good experience on the site which gave me time to help other people.

Year 9 Digital Tech

Today in class we used Trinket to create a game where we can use the arrow keys to move an object around. The game we made was based off another game that Ms Chowfin showed us, the game had to have similar code to the one we were showed but we had to make it slightly different. At first I didn't understand it but after a little bit of help I was able to zoom through the task & complete it.

Football/Soccer challenge(Python)

Today in class I worked on making a football/soccer team on Python.
The task was to use code to add players to the team, the code was def drawPlayer(color,x,y,label). We needed to have 1 goalie, 2-4 defenders, 2-4 midfielders & 2-4 attackers(11 players).
We also had to change the color to indicate what position they were
At first I was confused but with a little bit of help I was able to complete the task. I got a bit creative & made different formations, I made a 4-3-3 & a 4-3-1-2.

Linear Equations

Recently in Maths class we learnt about linear equations, this for me was the best thing we have learnt in Algebra.
For example, x + 4=6. Firstly you want to get rid of the 4 so you take it away, but you also have to take away 4 from 6. so that just leaves x=2, which is your answer.

Graffiti & Art

In my opinion I feel like they relate quite well because they both represent something that a person has interest in but they can also show bad messages which is quite sad because art is meant to be a fun way of expressing feelings but some people use it for harassment.

I feel like Graffiti is both Art & Vandalism because they can be nice but they can contain racism & swear words.
